ANTICO STUCCO ITALICO is a venetian plaster material (stucco
veneziano)
imported from Italy. This material has been used in Europe for
centuries and it’s beauty can still be seen today in many residences
and public places proving it’s durability and long lasting beauty. A
unique and innovative formula makes ANTICO STUCCO ITALICO incredibly
easy to use, and its design applications are endless.
ANTICO STUCCO ITALICO is made of natural resins, vegetable oils and
marble dust from Carrara Italy-the region where the finest marble in
the world comes from. ANTICO STUCCO ITALICO can be left natural to
give an adobe type appearance with very little sheen, or easily
burnished and sanded to give the look and appearance of polished
marble. The use of natural beeswax and other waxes and clear coats may
be used to give a further luxurious appearance and water resistance.
COVERAGE: Approximately 200-250 square feet per U.S gallon; 350-400
sq. feet per 8 Kg. container, or 950-1200 sq. feet per 24 Kg.
container
DRYING: Allow 6-8 hours between coats.
THINNING: No thinning required, but if desired clean water may be
added to achieve desired consistency.
CLEAN UP: Clean with warm, soapy water. Discard any dried up
material for it may contaminate the paste consistency of the material
and scratch the surface with further applications. Close the lid of
container when not in use.
SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces should be dry and free from dirt
and loose materials. Dull all glossy surfaces and use an acrylic based
primer or any water based flat paint that is adhered to the surface
adequately.
APPLICATION: Although application techniques vary among different
artists, the most popular application is with the use of metal inox
trowels and/or stainless steel spatula’s. After tinting
ANTICO STUCCO ITALICO, apply the first coat in a crosshatch manner
and skimming the walls with very thin coats. Wait 6-8 hours, sand the
surface lightly with 600+ grit sandpaper before applying the second
coat in a similar manner, with either the same color or a different
one, and allow 6-8 hours before applying another coat. The third coat
is usually sufficient for the final burnishing, which can be done with
either the steel spatulas or inox trowels, or sanded with the very
fine sandpaper to give the hard polished marble appearance. Sheen
level can be varied by how much you burnish and sand. Application of
wax and other clear coats may be applied after 4-5 days and should be
used if material is for use in kitchens and bathroom areas that are
exposed to extreme moisture.
